Delhi people love to indulge in exotic food made with authentic recipes and ingredients, and never hesitate to experiment with international specialties. Pan Asian cuisine is one of the favorite ones from the oriental kitchens, but now the more adventurous ones are digging into foods from Korean kitchens.
There are a few places where you get Korean food in the city, but like other cuisines, they all have made changes so as to suit the north Indian palette. And that’s where Crowne Plaza Greater Noida stepped in and the management at Mosaic organised – Culinary Marvels of Korean Cuisine, a 10-day long Korean food extravaganza. The festival featuring exclusive Korean dishes high on authentic and varied flavours ended recently on 17th July 2022 and was appreciated by all the foodies of Delhi NCR.
Experienced Expat Chefs Nam Yeon Hwang & Joon Seok Park from Intercontinental Hotel, Seoul, Korea curated the food menu for the festival and were present all throughout the festival. Like any artistic creation, great cuisine comes from the heart & is fuelled by passion, and the expat chefs put in their immense experience through a thoughtful marriage of fresh ingredients & simple cooking. They said, “Korean food is the culmination of its traditional culture having the soul and emotion of the Korean people.”
Talking about the festival, Sharad K Upadhyay, General Manager, Crowne Plaza Greater Noida said, “A culture can be better understood and appreciated via its food, and we have gladly hosted the Culinary Marvels of Korean Cuisine at Mosaic, our award-winning multi-cuisine restaurant at Crowne Plaza Greater Noida. Unique and a first for Noida/Greater Noida, this event was curated by experienced expat chefs from Seoul, Korea to bring a real Korean culture experience. This one-of-a-kind experience gave food lovers the opportunity to taste authentic South Korean cuisine without having to travel thousands of miles to its country of origin.”
The festival served the choicest of Korean signature dishes, both in vegetarian and non-vegetarian sections including salads, snacks, soups, main course, and delicious desserts. Some of the classics that the chefs have kept on their menu were Kimichi Jijigae, Bosa, Bibimbap, Korean kimchi, Japchae, Samgyeopsal, and Suogi Bulgogi among others.
During my dinner session during the festival, the non-vegetarian delicacies served included Dakgangjeong -Fried Chicken, Godeungo Gui – Grilled Mackerel with Korean seasonings, Dwaeji Tangsyuk – Deep-fried Pork with sweet and sour sauce, Sogogi Gui – Pan Grilled Tenderloin, Dwaeji Gogo Gochujang Jjigae – Pork stew flavored with Gochujang, etc.
I relished the vegetarian delicacies like Dubu Jorim – Spicy Braised Tofu, Japchae – Stir-fried Glass noodles with vegetables, Pa Jeon – Spring Onion Pancake, Kimchi, and Gochujang bread, Garlic, and cheese roll, and Korean Mango cake
They also had a Live Bar-B-Que counter, a Live SamgyeTang (Ginseng chicken soup) counter, and a Live Ramen counter.
