On September17, 2022, 72nd Birthday of Prime Minister was observed as “Jal Shiksha–Swachhta–Sewa DIWAS” by sanitation pioneer Sulabh International across the states.
As part of the nationwide campaign focusing on water education & clean India awareness campaigns, cleaning drives and seminars and felicitation of eminent personalities and freedom fighters were organised at 72 locations including New Delhi, Lucknow, Varanasi, Allahabad, Agra, Kanpur and Nagpur.
In Delhi, Sulabh International Water Museum was inaugurated by the Governor of Sikkim Shri Ganga Prasad in presence of senior officials of Government of India and other eminent personalities.
This water museum located inside the lush green campus of Sulabh International, probably first of its kind in the country, aims to highlight various aspects of water and create awareness among people about its uses.
During the program a jumbo Laddu of 72 kilograms was unveiled to celebrate the birthday of our beloved Prime Minister. A photo exhibition highlighting the journey of the Prime Minister was also inaugurated on the occasion. A book titled “Icons of Indian Renaissance” was also released on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion Sikkim Governor Shri Prasad recalled the ongoing initiatives of the Prime Minister especially in the field of Clean India. The Governor also appreciated the efforts of Sulabh International and congratulated Dr. Pathak for setting up a new Water Museum.
Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak, Founder, Sulabh Sanitation, Social Reform and Human Rights Movement formally launched today’s nationwide program. Dr. Pathak highlighted about the way lives of crores of people have been transformed by the welfare initiatives.
His organisation organizes the birthday of Hon’ble Prime Minister every year with an aim to create awareness among masses towards cleanliness.
Dr. Pathak in his speech added “As an NGO working in areas of sanitation and water for more than 52 years, we worked with all partners–in line with Prime Minister’s vision–to take the ODF India to the next level for its sustainability. We applaud Shri Narendra Modi for providing leadership in tackling issues crucial for women & girls’ health and for achieving SDG6 targets.”
Dr. Pathak said, “Since last seven years we have been celebrating the Prime Minister’s birthday to give further boost to programs close to the PM’s heart and are crucial for the nation’s health and empowerment.” Some of the other eminent personalities including Vice Chancellor of M.K. Bhavnagar University Dr. Mahesh bhai M. Trivedi also spoke on the occasion.
